_Biography//
I was born in 1986, somewhere between London and my mother's legs. Some time later my parents packed me in a suitcase and dumped me in Australia. I studied film at the Queensland College of Art and also worked as an acting coach and writer/director at the Australian Acting Academy. In 2006 my university gave me a bachelor and wished me a good day. I still have no idea what to do with the bachelor, but my graduation film did quite well in international student film festivals; it's called 'Film for the Boxed' and is viewable on this site.
Post-uni, some friends and I took part in the 48-Hour Film Project, where you create a short film over a single weekend. We won the Australian round with our spy spoof 'Myles West' (also viewable on this site), which later received a screening at Cannes 2008.
After this I moved to Berlin, became temporarily homeless, then received an artist-in-residency position with Culturia. In 2009 I was invited to the Berlinale Talent Campus, where my screenplay 'Jonah and the Vicarious Nature of Homesickness' was shortlisted for an emerging director's prize. The nice people at the Berlin-Brandenburg Medienboard funded the film, which premiered at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival and received the award I just told you about. Huzzah. I'm still living in Berlin and am writing my first feature film.
I have risen and fallen in many professional roles such as actor, teacher, illustrator, storyteller, poet, climbing instructor, graphic designer, paperboy, retail bitch, hair model, archivist, and that guy who walks around in a giant cuddly animal costume; but when I grow up I'd like to be a filmmaker. So, feel free to contact me about collaborations, commissions, confabulations, whatever. (bryn@inkinthesky.com)
